Air temperature observed data of eight locations of the "Chapada Diamantina" region for the period from 1985 to 1996 were used to estimate and corresponding mapping of the number of hours with temperature less than or equal to 13oC for some locations of the "Chapada Diamantina" region in the Bahia State, Brazil with altitude greater than 900m, with the objective of verifying and establishing the regional climatic potential for peach cropping. 400 hours with temperature less than or equal to 13oC was considered a limited for plants dormance. The number of hours with air temperature less than or equal to 13oC was obtained as a function of the local July mean temperature which resulted in a determination coefficient of r2 = 0.83. It was then generated a map with the accumulated number of hours with temperature less than or equal to 13oC above 400 hours which allowed to establish an unique aptitude zone for peach cropping: Full aptitude zone with satisfactory soil and climatic conditions for the development of peach crop. |
